New Backsplash

Before photos of the back splash

Every time I walked into the kitchen it bothered me to go from all the warm colors in the living room and study, into the "cold" kitchen.   Even though the walls are pumpkin, what you first saw turning the corner into the kitchen was the black counter tops, black flooring, white cabinets, stainless steal dishwasher and stark white back splash.  It was like a cold splash of water.

Notice the white back splash under the cabinets in the first and third photo.  The second photo is to show you what I mean by walking into the kitchen from the warm study into the "cold" kitchen.

A Bar Make-Over

Before and after photos of the bar in our basement.  I painted the a bar a metallic aqua.  We hired a contractor to put metal flashing on the top, as well as metal trim along the edge and black and white tile in front and behind the bar.  John and I added a black and white check border.  Cody found the barstools on ebay and Tim built the shelves in the back of the bar.

Filled to the Brim with Love

A smaller home doesn't mean we can't still have the whole family over.  We were cozy, but had a great time.

Stockings

Finding a place to hang our stockings this year was a challenge, but I love what we came up with.  We used an old curtain rod and draped it with evergreen.

Christmas in Our New Home

This above photo was the inspiration for our tree this year which I found on pinterest.  The photo to the left and below is our version of the tree.
